Who is Thomas Pheasant?
Pheasant grew up in a split level house in Adelphi. His passion for design was clear from a young age. At only 9 years old, he redesigned his bedroom by dying his bedsheets, adding new décor, and altering the structure of the furniture in the room. His parents nurtured his creative zeal and enrolled him at the University of Maryland to study architecture. His talent for interior design was spotted by a professor in his second year, which encouraged him to pursue a career in interior design.
Ever the businessman, Thomas Pheasant, understood that he would need to gain experience to make it in the industry and establish himself as a true artist with real talent. While still in college, he volunteered at a fabric show to meet designers and add to his growing network of industry connections. Six months into his volunteering, he met Victor Shargai, a prominent interior designer and actor, who was looking for a new assistant. Pheasant would later meet with Shargai and show him his portfolio. He got the job and took the first step on his journey to becoming an industry professional. After graduating from college, Thomas Pheasant took on his first big project. He bought and renovated a derelict house, transforming it into a gorgeous family home.
In 2013, Thomas Pheasant founded Thomas Pheasant Studios to design and sell collections of limited edition furniture. His first collection was launched later that year, focusing on the theme of decomposition, looking at nature through intricate design structures.
Inspiration and Style
This can best be seen through Pheasant's collaboration with Baker. This partnership allowed the designer to explore new aspects of his skill set. The collection features furniture that evokes a sense of simplicity but offset this feeling with the piece's bold silhouettes and clean finishes.
