A 32-inch wide nightstand with enough top surface for a lamp, a stack of books and a phone, the Theodore Alexander Cloverlea Nightstand is the bedside piece of the Cloverlea group in the Althorp Living History collection. The figured walnut veneer and classic brass details come from the historic designs of the Althorp estate in England, and the Heirloom finish gives the wood a settled, aged warmth. It suits a king-size bed in a primary bedroom, where a smaller nightstand can look lost.
Design & Craftsmanship
Theodore Alexander uses khaya wood for the construction and walnut veneer for the show surfaces, selected for figure so the grain reads as a pattern instead of a flat color. The Heirloom finish (VCF2016) is applied over that veneer, and brass hardware provides the classic accents. An anti-tip kit ships with the piece. Because it is wider than most nightstands, it also serves as a small chest in a guest room or as a lamp table at the end of a sofa. The Theodore Alexander Cloverlea Nightstand fits a Coral Gables or Coconut Grove bedroom decorated with traditional English pieces, and a pair on either side of the bed gives a Key Biscayne primary bedroom real symmetry.
