Hammadan Side Table

The Theodore Alexander Hammadan Side Table takes its pattern from a carpet and its shape from a George III original. The top is worked in a cracking decoupage that imitates an antique textile, a single drawer is fitted below the top for remotes or reading glasses, and the piece stands on square legs chamfered at the corners with no stretcher to interrupt the line. At 25 inches wide and 24 inches high it sits neatly beside a club chair or works as a bedside table in a guest room.

Design & Craftsmanship

Khaya wood and khaya veneer form the carcass, with brass used for the detailing, and the base carries a Walnut finish (VCF001) while the decoupage (PCF002) gives the top its crackled, carpet-like surface. The frieze drawer keeps small things out of sight, and the chamfered legs taper without carving so that the pattern above stays the center of attention. The design is part of Theodore Alexander's Essential collection, drawn from period sources.
