Lady Emily's Invitation Armchair

The Theodore Alexander Lady Emily's Invitation Armchair is a lattice back armchair whose rectangular frame encloses a web of interlacing C's, set above an upholstered drop-in seat on square tapering legs. Inspired by an Empire original, it has the crisp geometry that suits a dining room where the chairs need to hold their own against a strong table, and its 39¾-inch height gives it presence at the head of the table.

Design & Craftsmanship

Theodore Alexander's TA Originals collection builds this armchair in khaya wood, described by the maker as a mahogany lattice back chair, and finishes it in Clean Ramsey (VCF582), a mahogany tone that keeps the grain visible. The lattice is the decorative centrepiece; the legs and arms stay plain so the pattern of C's does the talking. The seat lifts out and is covered in Barley Houndstooth fabric (UP4519) with welting trim, a small-scale check that adds texture without competing with the back. Seat height is 20¼ inches and the arms sit at 24¾ inches.
