The Butler's Speciality Cocktail Cabinet

The Theodore Alexander The Butler's Speciality Cocktail Cabinet is a bar disguised as a piece of English cabinetry. Behind a gallery top, a central niche framed by a classical maiden is hinged to open as a door, and it is flanked by two doors dressed as dummy drawer fronts; all three open onto mirror-back interiors fitted with glass shelves, so bottles and crystal are doubled in reflection. Below, two leather-inset slides pull out as serving surfaces above four drawers, and the whole stands on turned legs.

Design & Craftsmanship

Finely mounted in brass and finished in Antique Ramsey Mahogany (VCF107), the cabinet has the depth of color and polish that Theodore Alexander gives its Althorp Living History collection, a line reproduced from furniture at the Spencer family's Althorp estate. Claw and ball feet carry the upper case, the leather slides give a butler somewhere to mix, and the drawers below keep bar tools, linens and openers out of sight.
