In the manner of George Hepplewhite, the Theodore Alexander The Hidden Vase Armchair is a shield back armchair with a vase carved splat rising through the centre of the back, an upholstered seat and turned fluted tapering legs. The open shield keeps the profile airy while the carved vase gives the eye something to rest on, so it suits a dining room that leans classic without going heavy.

Design & Craftsmanship

Theodore Alexander's TA Originals collection builds the frame in khaya wood and finishes it in Walnut (VCF001), a mid-brown tone that keeps the carved shield legible from across the room. The seat is upholstered in Lillian Cream fabric (UP5044), a 60% polyester, 40% cotton blend with cleaning code S, and trimmed with welting along the seat rail. Seat height is 19½ inches with the arms at 25 inches, so the chair slides under most dining tables and still offers proper arm support for a long meal. At just over 16 pounds it is easy to reposition.
