The Caracole Solid Ground Cocktail Table is exactly what its name promises: a solid, fully wrapped faux shagreen cocktail table whose richly textured cube reads as sculpture as much as furniture. Every visible surface is upholstered, and the block sits on a recessed wood plinth in Almost Black so it appears to float a few inches off the floor. At 20 inches square and 18 inches high it works on its own beside a lounge chair or in a row of two or three in front of a sofa, a strong choice for anyone who likes to rearrange a living room seasonally.

Design & Craftsmanship

Part of Caracole's Fall 2021 collection, this upholstered cube table takes a classic shape and gives it texture. Faux shagreen recreates the fine pebbled grain of the real material, applied here as a continuous wrap so the corners stay crisp. The Almost Black plinth base is set back from the edges, creating a shadow line that keeps the block from feeling heavy on the floor. Caracole conceived it as a companion to the Open Air cube, whose open metal frame, Moonstone shelf and beveled glass top contrast with the solid mass of the shagreen. Mixed in a Coral Gables great room or a Coconut Grove townhouse, the two create a layered cocktail grouping, and a single Caracole Solid Ground Cocktail Table also works as a side table beside a reading chair.
