Haringey Stool

The Theodore Alexander Haringey Stool is a compact accent seat, a hair under 19 inches square and just under 21 inches tall, worked in khaya and finished in a deep matte black. It earns its place three ways: as extra seating when the sofa fills up, as a perch for a stack of art books beside a chair, and as the thing you pull over to a window with a coffee. Design & Craftsmanship

This is a khaya wood stool from Theodore Alexander's Spencer London collection, a group inspired by Lord Spencer's London townhouse and built around figured sycamore, maple and khaya crotch wood. Here the material is kept plain and the shape does the work, wrapped in the One Fifth Black finish (VCF457) so the silhouette reads as a single dark mass rather than a set of parts. Against the pale floors and white walls common in Coconut Grove and Miami Beach interiors, the Theodore Alexander Haringey Stool gives a living room the dark punctuation mark those rooms usually lack. Two of them flanking a fireplace work as well as one tucked under a console, and other pieces in the collection can carry the same theme through the room.
