Matilde Nightstand

Based on an antique in Alexa Hampton's own home, the Theodore Alexander Matilde Nightstand is a French neoclassical bedside piece with a Bianco Carrara marble top framed by a pierced brass gallery. Tapered legs with brass capitals and feet lift the case off the floor, and a second pierced gallery wraps the lower shelf. It suits anyone furnishing a primary bedroom with a mix of antiques and newer pieces, and it works just as well as an end table beside a sofa.

Design & Craftsmanship

Theodore Alexander builds the Matilde in khaya wood with khaya and makore veneers, finished in Seal (PCF1039.2B), a deep tone that lets the white marble and the brass read clearly. A pullout tray slides out above the single drawer, giving you a spot for a glass of water or a book without cluttering the top, and the drawer itself is fitted with cast brass handles. The marble is a natural material, so its veining and figure vary from piece to piece. An anti-tip kit is included.
