The collection began with Lord Spencer's townhouse in London, and the group is built up from khaya crotch wood, maple and figured sycamore so that English history arrives in a current, metropolitan shape. This bedside case follows the same recipe in maple and sycamore with brass, and it is made in two finishes on one identical carcass: Fulham, coded VCF1973, and the Chelsea finish. Measurements, drawer layout and the anti-tip hardware are the same either way, so the decision is purely one of tone. At 44.1 lb the case feels planted without being awkward to move.
