Spencer London Empire Console

The Theodore Alexander Spencer London Empire Console is the ceremonial one in the family: 37 inches high, 52 inches wide and 20 inches deep, with maple wood and figured veneers laid over an architectural form. Use it as an entryway console under a mirror, or set it along a dining room wall as a serving surface for a household that entertains. Two finishes are offered, so the same shape can read light or dark depending on the room around it.

Design & Craftsmanship

The collection draws on Lord Spencer's London townhouse and on English cabinetmaking in figured sycamore, maple and khaya crotch wood, reworked here for contemporary metro living. The carcass is maple wood dressed in sycamore veneer, and brass accents outline the silhouette and pick up lamplight at the top edge. Fulham (VCF1973) is the version photographed; Chelsea (VCF1972) is the alternative for rooms that want more depth and contrast. An anti-tip kit is included so the tall frame can be fixed to the wall. In a Coconut Grove foyer or a Key Biscayne living room the Theodore Alexander Spencer London Empire Console gives height and formality where a low table would simply disappear, and further Spencer London pieces can be built around it.
