Marquetry is usually kept for show pieces, but the Theodore Alexander Bouquet 2-Door Cabinet puts it on a low 52-inch case built for everyday use. Two hinged doors swing outward onto interior shelving, flower-shaped pulls sit at the centre of each door, and the whole case rests on acrylic panel legs that all but disappear against a rug. It answers a living room that needs closed storage without another block of solid wood.

Design & Craftsmanship

Six veneers do the work here: maple, sycamore, satinwood, movingue, ash and pine are cut and laid into the floral marquetry that covers the doors. Stainless steel hardware secures the case and coordinates with the flower pulls, while the acrylic supports keep a 52-inch piece visually light. The Theodore Alexander Bouquet 2-Door Cabinet comes in two neutral tones from Theodore Alexander's Bouquet collection, the pale Buttercream (PCF1255) and the warmer Toasted Cashew (PCF1256), and an anti-tip kit is supplied for fixing it to the wall. In a Coral Gables living room the Buttercream reads bright against pale plaster; in a Brickell apartment the Toasted Cashew warms up glass and steel.
