At six feet ten inches wide, the Theodore Alexander Horizon Sideboard runs almost the full length of a dining wall, its rounded ends and fine reeding softening what is otherwise a long, disciplined box. This is a reeded oak cabinet for open-plan rooms, where the dining area and the seating area share one sightline and a hard-edged piece would read as a barricade rather than furniture.

Design & Craftsmanship

Ash wood, oak veneer and stainless steel make up the build, and the cabinet belongs to Theodore Alexander's Horizon collection, where airy silhouettes and reeded surfaces set the tone across the group. The finish materials specified are Day (VCF1974) and Grey (PCF1246); the light Day finish leaves the oak grain legible instead of flattening it under colour. An anti-tip kit ships with the cabinet, which matters in a household with small children. Used as a dining room buffet in a Coconut Grove house, the Theodore Alexander Horizon Sideboard gives you 82 inches of surface for platters, a pair of lamps or a tray bar; floated behind a sofa in a Key Biscayne apartment it does the same work for books and photographs. Its 35-inch height also makes it a credible drop zone near a wide entry.
