Fret Knot Armless Chair

Part of Caracole's fret-detailed seating group, the Caracole Fret Knot Armless Chair is the module that widens a sectional by exactly one seat, and it holds its own as an occasional chair. Its calling card is the pair of carved fret panels inset into the outside back, a lattice motif drawn from the narrow windows of a castle, where openwork stone was cut to let in air and light. Because the back is finished rather than plain, the piece can face into a room instead of hiding against a wall.

Design & Craftsmanship

The frame is finely upholstered over a supportive 8-way hand tied seat with a springdown cushion, while the tight back is dressed with a feather down scatter pillow that softens the tailored outline. Tapered fluted conical legs lift the chair clear of the floor, and a Soft Silver Paint finish puts a low shimmer on the paneled details and fluted feet without tipping into gloss. Introduced in Caracole's Spring 2020 collection, the Caracole Fret Knot Armless Chair serves as a connector in a long sectional run in a Coral Gables living room, or as a pull-up seat beside a window in a Pinecrest bedroom sitting area.
